Welcome to the website of The Friends of The Wettern Tree Garden.

Since 2004, The Friends have contributed to the maintenance of the beautiful Wettern Tree Garden. This has included the funding and planting of many replacement roses and, in memory of Joy Gadsby, the founder of The Friends, the installation of a park seat in the Tree Garden.   

The Friends applied to the Council for Designation of the Garden as a Local Green Space which would afford protection from development.  The Wettern Tree Garden is one of only 20 open spaces in the Borough of Croydon out of a total of 127 that is being recommended to the Secretary of State for the Designation and, moreover, as a Very Special Community Green Space.  The same recommendation has been made regarding Purley Beeches.
